Dano came to NJC in the summer of 2017 as the Sports Information Director and the Assistant Athletic Director. He brings in five years experience as an SID and will help maintain the website as well as promote the athletic programs. His knowledge with technology will bring a new dimension to the athletic staff and athletic programs.
Upon graduating high school from Flagler, CO, he attended McCook Community College where he redshirted for the men’s basketball team before transferring to Dickinson State University to finish out his next four years. Upon finishing his playing career, he joined the men’s basketball staff as a student assistant under head coach Ty Orton. Once finishing his degrees in Physical Education and Exercise Science, he received an assistant coaching position at Dakota College at Bottineau.
While at Bottineau, Fagerlund was a part of a team that set a 23 win season record at the school and made it to the District Championship for the first time in 10 years. Also while at DCB, he coached football where they made it to two consecutive bowl games for the first time in school history. He was also the head baseball coach for the Lumberjacks for two seasons.
As the SID for Dakota College, he covered seven sports and was a part of the Back-to-Back National NJCAA Championship hockey program. The program had won its 10th championship as a program and he was able to cover both national championships in New York. Additionally, he produced a successful talk show for athletes and created numerous posters to promote their athletic programs.
Fagerlund earned a Master of Arts degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University- Irvine in 2016.
