Jan. 7, 2019, Sterling, Colo. — The Plainswomen basketball team started the second half of the season on the right foot by defeating the Generals from Sheridan College. Only having a few days to practice and get prepared after having a month off was a challenge, but the coaches got the ladies back in shape before departing to Wyoming.
In the first half, Northeastern was able to take the nine-point advantage at the end of the first quarter by leading 25-16. The second quarter was less than ideal as they allowed the Generals to outscore them, but Northeastern still had the slight advantage, keeping the 40-39 lead. The second half began and the Plainswomen had the hot hand, which allowed them to extend their lead. In the final quarter, Northeastern was able to hold off the Generals and seal the 75-71 win.
The women will be back in action at home on Thursday, Jan. 10 with tip-off at 3 p.m.
