Bio

Coach Bronson Moton became the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Northeastern Junior College in 2023 after serving as an assistant coach for the Plainsmen men’s basketball program from 2018 to 2023. In his first season leading the women’s program, Coach Moton guided NJC to a 29-4 overall record and an appearance in the Region IX Championship game while coaching NJCAA All-American Seneya Martinez. Since taking over the program, he has helped multiple student-athletes advance to Division I programs across the country as well as high-level Division II programs, including one former player who competed in the NCAA Division II National Championship game.

During his time with the Plainsmen men’s basketball program, Coach Moton played a major role in recruiting and developing talent at the national level. Most notably, he helped recruit Dalton Knecht, who became an NJCAA All-American and the second-leading scorer in the NJCAA during his sophomore season at NJC before continuing his career at the University of Northern Colorado and later the University of Tennessee, where he earned national recognition and numerous accolades.

Coach Moton grew up in Aurora and attended NJC from 2012 to 2014.  After graduating from Northeastern, he continued his basketball career at Colorado State University Pueblo.

During his playing career, Moton earned many accolades. While at NJC, the Plainsmen hosted and won the Region IX Championship and advanced to Hutchinson for the NJCAA National Tournament. During his sophomore year, he was selected as an All-American and helped lead the program to a final national ranking of fifth in the country with a 31-4 overall record. His final two seasons at CSU Pueblo also brought success, as he helped lead the ThunderWolves to 21 victories during his first season there. That total ranked as the third-most wins in program history at the time. Additionally, Moton received the most votes any player in school history had earned for First Team All-RMAC honors.

After concluding his playing career, Coach Moton began coaching as a student assistant at CSU Pueblo for two seasons. He later graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Recreation, and Health Promotion.

While basketball has always been one of his greatest passions, Coach Moton believes his true purpose is serving people and helping student-athletes grow beyond the game. Moton states, “While I could talk X’s and O’s all day, being a good person will always outweigh anything that you can produce on the basketball court. I know everybody comes from different circumstances and upbringings; I am just here to embrace them all and influence these young student-athletes to genuinely care for their family and those around them. As much as I love winning basketball games, the only real loss would be if a kid came to NJC and didn’t leave here as a better person.”
