Northeastern Baseball Scores 37 Runs as They Take Down Hastings Broncos

Northeastern's Baseballs offense was absolutely unstoppable, as they took down the Hastings Broncos 37-4 in the first game of the double header. Michael Clark was named the DDC Player of the Contest. Clark went 5-6 at the plate, hitting two home runs, one double, drew one walk, scored 5 runs and drove in an impressive 9 runs in the contest. 

The Plainsmen got on the board in the top of the first inning after Max Valerio homered to center field, scoring three runs and Hudson Hoy drew a walk, scoring one run. Northeastern scored four more runs in the top of the second inning to extend the lead to 8-0. Valerio homered to left field, scoring three runs and Brendan Clelland singled, scoring one run.

The Plainsmen popped off for 14 more runs in the top of the third inning on 11 hits. Brayden Stufft singled, scoring one run, Clark hit into a fielder's choice, scoring one run, Hoy singled, scoring one run, Clelland singled, scoring one run, Tanner Peerey doubled, scoring three runs, Yusei Uzawa singled, scoring one run, Zach McVay was hit by a pitch, scoring one run, Clark hit a grand slam to center field and Harrison Good singled, scoring one run. Northeastern added another 7 runs in the top of the sixth inning on six hits. Clark homered to left field, scoring three runs, Hoy hit a solo home run to left field, Good singled, scoring one run, and Uzawas doubled, scoring two runs. 

Northeastern pushed across 8 runs on 5 hits in the top of the fifth inning. Clark singled, scoring one run, Clelland singled, scoring two runs, Stufft singled, scoring two runs, McVay singled, scoring two runs and Clark doubled, scoring one run. Ondrej Vank started the game for the Plainsmen and ended up earning the win. Vank threw three innings, giving up five hits, walking one batter and striking out four. Cameron Ochoa came in and threw two innings, giving up four earned runs on three hits, walking two and striking out two. 

Northeastern tallied 29 hits in the contest. Clark and Clelland each tallied 5 hits in the contest. Clark and Valerio both hit multiple home runs in the game. Stufft, Peerey, Uzawa, Good, McVay, Valerio and Hoy collected multiple hits in the contest. The Plainsmen totaled 10 walks in the game, Stufft, McVay and Valerio all had two walks each. Uzawa, Clark and Hoy stole multiple bases in the game.
