Northeastern Baseball Ousts Hastings 14-5 On First Game of Double Header
Northeastern Baseball headed to Hastings, NE and took the Broncos 14-5 in the first game of a double header. Sebastian Miranda was named the DDC Player of the Contest. Miranda ended up earning the win for the Plainsmen, throwing four innings, giving up just two hits, walking three batters and striking out 9.
The Plainsmen got on the board first in the top of the first inning after Yusei Uzawa grounded out and Michael Clark walked, each scoring one run. Northeastern added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Max Valerio tripled to center field and Clark singled to right, each scoring one run. Korey Koehler threw two innings in relief, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits, walking one and striking out one. Benjamin Coleman threw one inning, giving up three earned runs on three hits and striking out one batter.
Northeastern was able to accumulate 15 hits in the contest. Brayden Stufft, Tanner Peerey, Clark, CArson Sauter, Lewis Coonts, Valerio and Hudson Hoy each collected two hits in the game. Uzawa and Clark drove in three runs each. Peerey led the team in walks with two. Stufft and Hoy each stole multiple bases for the Plainsmen.
