Northeastern Baseball Earns The Series Sweep Over McCook Community College After Winning Game Four 8-6 On Monday
Northeastern Baseball earned the series sweep over McCook Community College after taking down the Indians 8-6 in game four on Monday. Brendan Clelland and Cameron Ochoa were named the DDC Players of the Game. Clelland went 4-4 at the plate, hitting one home run and one double, scoring two runs and drove in two runs. Ochoa started the game and earned the win for the Plainsmen. Ochoa went 5 innings, giving up three hits and no runs, walking three batters and striking out 8 batters.
The Plainsmen built a 5 run lead in the third inning and then held off a strong charge from McCook to win the game 8-6. The Plainsmen were the first to get on the board in the first when Brayden Stufft singled, scoring one run. Northeastern scored one run in the bottom of the second thanks to a solo home run by Clelland to right field. A triple by Max Valerio and a ground out by Michael Clark helped the Plainsmen extend their early lead. Evan Gail threw two inning of relief, giving up four runs (three earned) on two hits, walking two and striking out three batters. Makoy Lucero threw one inning, walked one batter and struck out one batter. Brayden Stork earned the save, throwing one inning, giving up two earned runs on four hits and struck out one batter. Stufft and Tanner Peerey each stole multiple bases in the contest.
