Northeastern Baseball Falls In A Close Contest To Southeast Community College 8-5
Northeastern Baseball falls to Southeast Community College 8-5 in game one of the Saturday double header. Gavin Lamont was named the DDC Player of the Contest. Lamont started the game for the Plainsmen, throwing 5 innings, giving up three unearned runs on two hits, walking four batters and striking out four batters.
Carson Sauter singled down the left field line to help tie the game at one in the top of the second inning. A single by Max Valerio gave Northeastern the lead 2-1 in the top of the third inning. The Plainsmen took the lead again in the top of the fourth. Sauter hit into a double play, but one run scored. A single by Michael Clark gave Northeastern the lead again in the top of the fifth inning. Southeast was able to hit a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth, which ultimately gave them the lead to win the game.
Evan Gail took the loss for Northeastern. Gail threw one inning, giving up 5 runs (one earned) on two hits, walking one batter and striking out one batter. Clark, Sauter and Valerio each drove in one run for the Plainsmen. Yusei Uzawa stole two bases in the contest.
