Walk Off Seals The Deal For Northeastern Baseball As They Take Down Lamar Community College 13-12 in the Quarter-Final Round of the Region IX Tournament
It came down to the wire on Friday, as the Northeastern Plainsmen grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 13-12 over Lamar Community College. The game was tied at 12 in the bottom of the ninth inning when Harrison Good singled, scoring one run. Brayden Stufft was named the DDC Player of the Game. Stufft went 3-3 at the plate, drawing two walks, knocking in one runs, scoring four runs and stole four bases on the day.
The Plainsmen were able to collect 15 hits in the contest. Northeastern jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Tanner Peerey homered to left field, scoring two runs, Max Valerio singled, scoring one run, Michael Clark doubled, scoring one run and Zach McVay homered to center field, scoring two runs. Braydon Stork earned the win for the Plainsmen. Stork came in in the top of the ninth inning, gave up three earned runs on three hits and walked one batter. Gavin Lamont started on the hill for Northeastern. Lamont threw 4.2 innings, giving up 6 runs (three earned) on 5 hits, walking two batters and striking out three batters. Evan Gail threw three innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on two hits, walking four batters and striking out two. Deacon Trenkle threw .1 innings and struck out one batter.
McVay provided pop in the middle of the lineup and led the Plainsmen with three runs batted in. Stufft led the team with three hits on the day. Peerey, Good, Clark and Valerio each collected multiple hits for the Plainsmen. Stufft led the team with four stolen bases.
