Northeastern Baseball Takes Down Otero College In A Nail Biter 9-7 in the Semi-Finals of the Region IX Tournament

Northeastern Baseball built a 7 run lead in the sixth inning and then held off Otero College's charge for 9-7 victory on Saturday. Ondrej Vank was named the DDC Player of the Game. Vank started on the hill for the Plainsmen and ended up earning the win. Vank threw 6.2 innings, giving up 6 runs (one earned) on four hits, walking none and striking out 12 batters in the contest. 

The Plainsmen started the scoring in the bottom of the first inning after Brendan Clelland singled down the left field line, scoring one run. Northeastern added one run in the bottom of the second after Yusei Uzawa singled to center field. Jared Tameling came in in relief, giving up one earned run on one hit and walked one batter. Deacon Trenkle threw .2 innings, giving up one hit and walked one batter. Evan Lamunyon threw one inning, giving up two hits and struck out one batter. Brayden Stork came in and earned the save. Strok threw .2 innings of clean ball. 

Northeastern accumulated 14 hits on the day. Clelland drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Plainsmen with two runs batted in. Aniel Del Orbe, Brayden Stufft, Uzawa, Harrison Good, Clelland and Zach McVay each collected two hits in the contest. Good paced the team with two walks. Uzawa led Northeastern with two stolen bases.
