Northeastern Baseball Takes Down Trinidad State College 11-1 In First Game of 4 Game Home Stand

Northeastern easily dispatched Trinidad State on Friday, 11-1.

The Plainsmen jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the third inning after an error scored two runs, and a wild pitch scored one run.

Northeastern  added four more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on two hits. Zach McVay doubled, scoring one run, and George Greene homered to left field, scoring three runs.

Trinidad State scored one run in the top of the sixth on a solo home run to left field by Zach Hale.

DDC Player of the Game, Ondrej Vank earned the win for Northeastern. The pitcher gave up four hits and one run over six innings, striking out four and walking none. Nathan Yunick took the loss for Trinidad. The starting pitcher went four innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on three hits, striking out three and walking two.

Greene went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Riley Suarez, Michael Clark, Brayden Stufft, Greene, McVay, Brendan Clelland, and Eastin Hubbard each collected one hit for Northeastern. The Plainsmen had patience at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Stufft, Tanner Peerey, and Clelland led the team with two walks each. Stufft stole three bases. Northeastern stole five bases in the game. Northeastern turned one double play in the game. The Plainsmen didn't commit a single error in the field. Tavish Dey had the most chances in the field with five.
