Northeastern Baseball Sweeps The Season Series Against Trinidad State, Winning Game Four 14-4
George Greene collected three hits in three at bats, as Northeastern defeated Trinidad State 14-4 on Saturday. Greene hit a solo home run to center field in the first inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the third inning.
Northeastern got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Nate Glad hit a sacrifice fly, and Greene homered to center field, each scoring one run.
Trinidad State scored one run in the top of the second on a solo home run to left field by Carson Barlow.
A single by Zach McVay, and a double by Brendan Clelland helped Northeastern extend their early lead in the third.
The Plainsmen scored seven runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Brayden Stufft drew a walk, scoring one run, Greene singled, scoring two runs, McVay drew a walk, scoring one run, Greene scored after tagging up, Hudson Hoy drew a walk, scoring one run, and Tanner Peerey drew a walk, scoring one run.
Northeastern scored one run in the bottom of the sixth on a solo home run to center field by Jett Maisano.
The Plainsmen scored one run in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run to center field by Jose Victorio.
DDC Player of the Game, Jan Raunigger earned the win for Northeastern. The hurler surrendered three hits and one run over four innings, striking out seven and walking none. Xander Parra started on the hill for Trinidad. The righty surrendered nine hits and seven runs over three and one-third innings, striking out two and walking none. Austin Reese, Gavin Lamont, Garren Gechter, and Carson Ripley each came on in relief for Northeastern and shutdown Trinidad.
Northeastern accumulated 14 hits in the game. McVay collected two hits for Northeastern in two at bats. McVay stole two bases. The Plainsmen had a strong eye at the plate, piling up nine walks for the game. Northeastern stole five bases in the game.
The Plainsmen will be back in action on Friday, as they host Southeast Community College beginning at 1:00.
