Northeastern Baseball Hosts 3rd Annual PACK THE PARK, Winning the Game Over Western Nebraska Community College 20-13, Completes First 40 Win Regular Season Since 2013

Bats were blistered as Northeastern outshone Western Nebraska 20-13 on Saturday. Northeastern collected 17 hits, while the Cougars had 14.

Northeastern rallied for the victory despite trailing 6-0 in the third.

The Cougars were the first to get on the board in the first when Will Harbison tripled, scoring two runs.

Western Nebraska added to their early lead in the top of the third inning when Catcher Gladysh hit a solo home run to left field, Payton Denny doubled, scoring two runs, and Ismael Camara singled, scoring one run.

Northeastern scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the third inning. Brayden Stufft singled, scoring two runs, and Riley Suarez homered to left field, scoring three runs.

The Plainsmen flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fifth, scoring 12 runs on nine hits to take the lead, 17-7. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to left field by DDC Player of the Game, George Greene on a full count that drove in three.

Alex Harris homered to left field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth for the Northeastern.

Gladysh hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the ninth for the Western Nebraska.

Keon Bandy stepped on the hill first for Northeastern. The pitcher allowed three hits and two runs over two innings, striking out three and walking two. Peyton Markheim stepped on the mound first for the Cougars. The pitcher gave up five hits and five runs over three innings, striking out one and walking one. Merick Fisbeck threw one inning of no-run ball for Northeastern in relief. The right-handed pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out none and walking none.

Northeastern accumulated 17 hits in the game. Suarez, Michael Clark, Greene, Zach McVay, and Brendan Clelland each collected two hits for Northeastern. Greene went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with four runs batted in. Northeastern had a strong eye at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Cannon Utz and Hudson Hoy led the team with two walks each.
