Northeastern Baseball Takes Down Otero College In the Second Round of the Region IX Tournament 8-2

Northeastern easily dispatched Otero on Friday at Runyon Field Sports Complex, 8-2.

The Rattlers were the first to get on the board in the first when Ondrej Vank induced Keita Fujino to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.

Northeastern captured the lead, 4-1, in the bottom of the fourth when Zach McVay singled, scoring one run, and Hudson Hoy homered to left field, scoring three runs.

Three more Northeastern runs crossed the plate in the seventh inning to extend the lead to 8-2. DDC Player of the Game, Eastin Hubbard homered to center field, scoring two runs, and a dropped third strike scored one run.

Vank earned the win for Northeastern. The righty allowed three hits and two runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out nine and walking three. Yan Santiago took the loss for Otero. The lefty went four innings, allowing five runs on seven hits, striking out two and walking two. Logan Steckel pitched two and one-third innings of no-run ball for Northeastern in relief. The pitcher allowed four hits, striking out one and walking none.

Northeastern collected 12 hits in the game. Brayden Stufft set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Northeastern with three hits in five at bats. Hubbard and Hoy each drove in three runs for Northeastern. Aniel Del Orbe and Nate Glad each collected multiple hits for Northeastern. Northeastern ran wild on the base paths, amassing three stolen bases for the game. Northeastern turned two double plays in the game.
