Bio

Coach Cellars joins Northeastern Junior College with a proven record of success and program development at multiple levels. Before arriving at NJC, he served as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Lamar Community College from 2020 to 2024, where he guided the Runnin’ Lopes to two top-three finishes in the Region IX South and led the program to its first regional tournament appearance in four years—making two tournament appearances in total during his tenure.

Under his leadership, the 2020–21 squad ranked 12th nationally in offensive efficiency, with two of his players, Kevon Wiggins and Khalil Haywood, finishing among the NJCAA’s top ten scorers and earning invitations to the JA48. In all, five of his student-athletes earned All-Region IX South honors.

In addition to his head coaching role, Coach Cellars also served as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Lamar Community College from 2018 to 2020, where he played a key role in recruiting, scouting, and player development.

Before his time at Lamar, he gained valuable experience as a Volunteer Video Coordinator at the University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC), where he coordinated film exchange, managed the program’s alumni database, and supported the creation of graphics and video content for recruiting.

Earlier in his career, Coach Cellars began shaping his coaching philosophy as an Assistant Coach at Milford High School, where he helped guide the program to the most wins in school history (22).
