Northeastern Softball's Bats Stay Hot Against Lamar Community College, Winning Game 2 17-4

Northeastern easily dispatched Lamar on Saturday at Lamar, 17-4.

The Plainswomen jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after America Griffin singled, scoring two runs, Reina Roberts doubled, scoring two runs, and Addison Steele singled, scoring one run.

Northeastern added to their early lead in the top of the second inning when Kelsi Jurczewsky doubled, scoring one run, and Tati Hunt singled, scoring two runs.

The Plainswomen added three more runs in the top of the third inning on four hits. Brodie Wilcoxen homered to center field, scoring two runs, and Jurczewsky singled, scoring one run.

Northeastern scored six runs on four hits in the top of the fourth inning. An error scored one run, Wilcoxen singled, scoring one run, DDC Player of the Game, Mikey Llamas doubled, scoring two runs, Jurczewsky grounded out, scoring one run, and Griffin doubled, scoring one run.

Brook McNeil stepped in the circle first for Northeastern. The hurler allowed eight hits and four runs (three earned) over four innings, striking out one and walking one. Maddie Cline tossed one inning of no-run ball for Northeastern in relief. The right-handed pitcher surrendered zero hits, striking out one and walking none.

Northeastern piled up 17 hits in the game. Griffin and Jurczewsky were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in three runs for Northeastern. Llamas went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead NJC in hits. Wilcoxen, Hunt, Roberts, and Steele each collected multiple hits for Northeastern.
