Northeastern Softball Completes Season Sweep Of Lamar Community College, Taking Game 4 10-8

Northeastern got out to a 9-run lead in the fourth inning and held on for a 10-8 victory over Lamar on Sunday. Lamar closed the gap by scoring on a single, a home run, a single, a single, a sacrifice fly, and a ground out.

The Plainswomen opened the scoring in the top of the second thanks to four singles. Northeastern first got on the board when Reina Roberts singled, scoring two runs.

Lamar scored five runs on seven hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Isabeau Hoff singled, scoring one run, Maya Pena homered to center field, scoring three runs, and Bethany Summers singled, scoring one run.

DDC Player of the Game, Brooklyn McNeil began the game for Northeastern. The right-handed pitcher surrendered seven hits and one run over five and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one. Summers started in the circle for Lamar. The pitcher allowed 11 hits and 10 runs (seven earned) over six and one-third innings, striking out six and walking three. Maddie Cline appeared in relief for Northeastern.

Northeastern accumulated 12 hits in the game. Brodie Wilcoxen, Tati Hunt, and Kelsi Jurczewsky each collected two hits for Northeastern. Roberts and Jurczewsky each drove in two runs for Northeastern. The Plainswomen turned one double play in the game.
