Northeastern Softball Wins Over Lamar Community College In the First Round of the Region IX Softball Tournament 10-1
DDC Player of the Game, Tatiana Hunt hit two home runs and drove in five as Northeastern defeated Lamar 10-1 on Thursday. Hunt homered in the second and first innings.
Northeastern scored six runs in the second inning on the way to victory. America Griffin drew a walk, scoring one run, Hunt hit a grand slam to left field, and Addison Steele singled, scoring one run.
The Plainswomen got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Marisa Reyes singled down the left field line, Mikey Llamas singled to center field, Griffin hit a sacrifice fly, and Hunt homered to center field, each scoring one run.
Reyes stepped in the circle first for Northeastern. The righty allowed five hits and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking three. Jordan Stilley started in the circle for Lamar. The starter surrendered five hits and four runs over one inning, striking out none and walking none.
Northeastern accumulated 11 hits in the game. Llamas led the Plainswomen with three hits in three at bats. Brodie Wilcoxen and Reina Roberts each collected multiple hits for Northeastern. Llamas stole two bases. NJC ran wild on the base paths, piling up three stolen bases for the game. NJC turned one double play in the game.
