Northeastern Softball Drops A Heart Breaker To Southeast Community College in Round 2 Of the Region IX Tournament 5-4

Friday's game against Southeast was a heartbreaker for Northeastern, as they lost the lead late in a 5-4 defeat. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the sixth when Gracie Moe doubled, scoring one run.

The Bobcats were the first to get on the board in the first when Lexi Paskach hit a solo home run to left field.

Northeastern jumped into the lead in the top of the fourth when DDC Player of the Game, Addison Steele doubled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.

Southeast made the score 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth after Bri Houchin doubled, scoring two runs, and Tatum Heimerman singled, scoring one run.

Steele homered to left field, which helped Northeastern tie the game at four in the top of the sixth.

Brook McNeil led things off in the circle for Northeastern. The starter gave up 11 hits and five runs (three earned) over six innings, striking out three and walking one. Kinsley Mohan led things off in the circle for Southeast. The righty surrendered six hits and four runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out six and walking five.

Steele led Northeastern with three runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The second baseman went 2-for-3 on the day. Leadoff hitter Brodie Wilcoxen led Northeastern with three hits in four at bats. The Plainswomen had patience at the plate, accumulating five walks for the game. America Griffin and Tati Hunt led the team with two bases on balls each.
