Northeastern Softball Finishes Their Season In the Region IX Championship Against McCook Community College. The Plainswomen Finished the Year 38-19 (27-9)

Northeastern fell to McCook 5-3 on Sunday.

The Indians opened the scoring in the bottom of the third thanks to two sacrifice flies. The Indians first got on the board when Josie Wright hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Northeastern jumped back into the lead in the top of the fourth inning after America Griffin singled down the right field line, Addison Steele walked, and the Indians committed an error, each scoring one run.

The Indians captured the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the fifth after Wright grounded out, and Northeastern committed an error, each scoring one run.

Brook McNeil stepped in the circle first for Northeastern. The starting pitcher allowed six hits and four runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out two and walking none. Hannah Schneider opened the game for McCook. The pitcher surrendered three hits and three runs (one earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out four and walking three.

Brodie Wilcoxen led Northeastern with two hits in four at bats from the leadoff position. Griffin and Steele each drove in one run for Northeastern. The Plainswomen worked the count all day, collecting four walks. Northeastern turned one double play in the game.
