Northeastern Junior College Volleyball Achieves Victory in Close Pre-Season Clash Against Tyler Junior College

In an exhilarating pre-season volleyball match held on August 22, 2025, at the New Mexico Military Institute, the Northeastern Junior College Plainswomen secured a hard-fought victory against Tyler Junior College, wrapping up with a final score of 3-2.

The match began with a tight contest in the first set, where Tyler Junior College narrowly edged out a win with a 27-25 score. Undeterred, the Plainswomen rebounded strongly in the second set, taking a decisive 25-15 win. The momentum stayed on their side as they also bagged the third set with a score of 25-19. Despite a dip in the fourth set, where Tyler managed a 27-25 victory, the Plainswomen delivered a commanding performance in the decisive fifth set, overwhelming Tyler with a 15-4 score, clinching the match victory.

Notable performances were seen from sophomore outside Kaitlyn Barnes and freshman outside Kiera Heaven Loe. Barnes's all-around gameplay and excellent net play were pivotal, earning her the DDC player of the match. Meanwhile, Kierra Loe's aggressive play significantly contributed to their success. Reflecting on the match, Kaitlyn Barnes commented on the team's energy and urgency, which were key factors in their victory.

Looking ahead, the Plainswomen are set to face Odessa College on August 23, 2025, again at the New Mexico Military Institute. With a current record of 1-1, the team is eagerly gearing up for the next challenge.
