Northeastern Baseball Takes Down Western Nebraska Community College 7-6 In Game 3
Northeastern built a 4-run lead in the fourth inning and then held off Western Nebraska's charge for a 7-6 victory on Saturday. The Cougars closed the gap by scoring on a single, a solo home run, and a home run.
A solo home run to center field by Riley Suarez put Northeastern on the board in the bottom of the first.
Northeastern added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after George Greene flew out, and Tanner Peerey homered to right field, each scoring one run.
Western Nebraska scored one run in the top of the third on a solo home run to right field by Harrison Hart.
Northeastern added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on one hit. Brayden Stufft grounded out, scoring one run, and Eastin Hubbard homered to center field, scoring two runs.
DDC Player of the Game, Tony Slizowski started on the mound for Northeastern. The righty allowed five hits and two runs over five innings, striking out four and walking one. Carter Reisig started the game for Western Nebraska. The pitcher gave up five hits and three runs over two innings, striking out none and walking none. Austin Reese, David Ada, Jaiven Baca, and Logan Steckel each appeared in relief for Northeastern.
