Northeastern Women's Soccer Takes Down Foe Western Nebraska Community College to Move to 3-1 in Region IX Play
In an eventful conference face-off, the Northeastern Junior College Plainswomen secured a 3-1 victory against the Western Nebraska CC Cougars on September 13, 2025, at Plainsmen Park. The match, characterized by an overcast weather, showcased the Plainswomen's resilience and strategic plays.
The first half was tightly contested, culminating in a 1-1 tie at halftime. Critical to NJC's performance were the impressive contributions from DDC Player of the Game Allie Mahrling and Trizidee Chavez, who scored NJC's goals, propelling the team forward. Valerie Chavez assisted on both of Mahrling's goals.
In the second half, NJC took the lead with a stunning free kick from Trizidee Chavez. Shortly after, Valerie Chavez connected with Allie Marling to find the goal that would put the game out of reach. The team's defensive efforts were equally commendable, with goalkeepers Hannah Flores and Ashlyn Godfrey contributing to the team's success by thwarting the Cougars' offensive attempts.
Coach Burton praised the team's effort stating, "I'm very proud of the perseverance that this team continues to show through the ups and downs of season. These girls continue to go to war for each other." Karla Moreno Pacheco was quoted saying, "This was truly a team effort, we didn't rely on one person. I can't wait to see what more we can accomplish." The Plainswomen are looking ahead to their next game on September 20, 2025, again at Plainsmen Park, where they will face Western Wyoming CC. Currently, they hold a strong conference record of 3-1.
