Northeastern Volleyball Falls To Navarro College In Season Opener
In a challenging face-off at the New Mexico Military Institute, the Northeastern Junior College Plainswomen volleyball team succumbed to a 0-3 defeat against the Navarro College Bulldogs in their pre-season tournament game on August 22, 2025.
The Plainswomen showed competitive spirit and resilience across three sets, yet each ended narrowly in favor of Navarro. The first set saw the NJC Plainswomen pushing their opponents hard, with the set concluding at a tight 22-25. The intensity was matched in the second set, with a similar scoreline of 22-25. In the third and final set, despite a strong effort, NJC again fell short, as Navarro sealed their victory with a 21-25 score.
Unfortunately, detailed statistics including player kills, blocks, digs, assists, and aces were not available at the time. However, standout performance from freshman setter Kennedy Kerr, who was recognized as the DDC Player of the Game, provided a silver lining. Kerr's impactful serve runs after coming off the bench energized the Plainswomen and highlighted her potential as a key player for the team in future engagements.
Looking ahead, the Plainswomen are set to face Tyler Junior College at the same venue on August 22, 2025. Holding a current record of 0-1, the team is focused on refining their strategies and skillsets to secure a win in their upcoming contests.
