Northeastern Women's Soccer Wins Back To Back Region IX Games, As They Take Down Otero College in a 4-3 Thriller
In a gripping soccer event at Plainsmen Park, the Northeastern Junior College Plainswomen claimed a nail-biting 4-3 victory over the Otero Junior College Rattlers in a sunny afternoon matchup on September 6. The Plainswomen, capitalizing on a crucial home game, elevated their season record to 2 wins, 1 loss, and 0 ties.
The match was intensely contested from the start, with NJC initially leading 2-1 at halftime after a potential Otero goal was called back. The second half saw the Rattlers snatch a 3-2 lead, putting the Plainswomen under pressure. However, the NJC team showcased remarkable resilience, overturning the deficit with two goals in the final 15 minutes, ensuring a suspense-filled victory.
Key players for NJC included Karla Moreno Pacheco, who netted two goals, including the game-winner, and Sevana Thompson and Lunna Dominguez each adding a goal.
